1. Tour a Local Portuguese Winery 

Love vineyards and wine? We highly recommend taking a day trip to participate in this Airbnb experience at Adega Mãe Winery!

It’s about 40 minutes west of Lisbon in the city of Torres Vedras, and it is definitely worth the trip! 

The tour was the perfect mix of learning how wine is made in the region and, of course, wine tasting! Plus, our tour guide João was so friendly!

During the tour, we were told the beautiful and unique story of how two brothers started Adega Mãe as an homage to their mother. Our hearts are so invested!

To top it all off, the winery is super modern and the architecture is absolutely beautiful! We highly recommend it since it’s such a fun way to spend the day and meet other travelers.

2. Explore the Magical Sintra Village

Looking for something that is super fun and enchanting? You definitely want to book a Sintra Jeep Safari Airbnb Experience!

Sintra is a small village in the hills of Portugal located about 30 minutes outside of Lisbon. It’s famous for being the vacation destination of royalty in Portuguese history!

Plus, the ENTIRE village is a World Heritage UNESCO site. Girl, it’s a seriously magical place! 

We spent the day touring Sintra in vintage jeeps and had a blast! During the tour, we visited Quinta da Regaleira (Sintra Castle) and wandered through the famous and mysterious Initiation Wells.

Sintra is a definite must-see! I mean, just look at how beautiful it is…

3. Visit the Westernmost Point of Europe

If you go to Sintra, don’t miss the chance to visit the westernmost point of Europe, Cabo da Roca.

About 150 meters above sea level, you’re able to get a panoramic view over the Serra de Sintra and the coast! Looking for a killer photo spot? This one’s perfect! 😉

For you history-lovers — Apparently, in the 17th century, there was a fort on Cabo da Roca. 

It played a crucial role in guarding the entrance to Lisbon’s harbor during the Peninsular Wars. They would form a defensive line along the coast for protection. How cool, right?!

4. Lisbon Day Trip to Cascais

Cascais is a beautiful coastal town about 30 minutes from Lisbon. There, you will find an awesome biking and walking path that continues the length of the coast. Be prepared to see some of the most breathtaking views! 

We highly recommend walking it all the way to the famous cliff, Boca do Inferno. Trust us, you won’t regret it.

Side note — Apparently, there are free bikes around the city that you can rent. 

We didn’t see any that were available. Regardless, we enjoyed grabbing a sweet snack at Santini’s Gelato and walking off all the delicious food! 

Speaking of delicious food…

Cascais is also where we had the most delicious shrimp lunch we’ve EVER had in our ENTIRE lives…Absolutely no exaggeration here! 

Any other shrimp-lovers out there?! You’ve got to check out a little local restaurant called O Pescador and order the Shrimp Mozambique. Don’t worry, you can thank us later! 😉 

I mean, just look at it! Currently drooling just thinking about the delicious dish!

The Must-Dos During Your Lisbon Day Trips

In a nutshell, if you aren’t able to do everything on our list (although we HIGHLY encourage that you do), these are the absolute must-dos:

• Take the train from Lisbon to Cascais or grab a 30 euro Uber 
• Have the best seafood of your life on the patio of O Pescador and then wash it down with a local white wine
• Grab gelato at Santini’s
• Visit the lighthouse 
• Explore the historic Cidadela fortress
• Walk the path to Boca do Inferno
