Today, we’re sitting down with our student Angela Ocampo, Founder of Golden Oasis Media! Originally from Pembroke Pines, Florida, Angela gives us a glimpse into her girl boss journey…
Q: What type of online business do you own and what services do you offer?
I’m the founder of Golden Oasis Media, a Pinterest management and strategy studio for creative entrepreneurs, coaches, and bloggers!
I help fierce entrepreneurs spread their message like wildfire so they can create a business around the freedom they crave. I bring my clients’ ideas to life, connect them with their dream audience, and empower them with the tools they need to make their business boom!
Q: What inspired you to enroll in the Bucketlist Bombshells Academy?
After graduating, I worked in the corporate world for two years. Feeling incredibly unmotivated and uninspired, I quickly became tired of living the 9-5 life. I wanted to do more with my life, but had no idea how to make it happen.
As soon as I discovered the Bucketlist Bombshells Academy, I became completely obsessed. I was finally done letting fear dictate my life.
“It was exactly what I needed to finally make my dream life a reality!”
Q: How have the courses helped you to become an online business owner?
Since I majored in marketing, I had existing skills. However, the Bucketlist Bombshells courses taught me the structure and foundation of turning my existing skills and passions into a business. Without the courses’ guidance, I would have thrown in the towel!
These courses were the knowledge, push, and motivation I needed in order to create a successful business!
Q: What type of job were you working in prior to running your own online business?
Before creating and running Golden Oasis Media, I was a Marketing Coordinator for a sports technology company in Orlando, Florida.
Q: How long did it take you to ditch your 9-5, and how much time did you dedicate in order to make it happen?
I left my 9-5 without a real plan before taking the Bucketlist Bombshells Academy courses. Due to some personal reasons, if I didn’t leave at that time, I would’ve been stuck there for another year.
With the inspiration from all of the boss babes in the Bucketlist Bombshells Community, I got the courage to leave my 9-5. I ventured into blogging and realized it was cool but knew that I wanted more.
Four months after leaving my 9-5, I enrolled in the Tech Skills Course. I dedicated about two hours a day to it and was able to complete the course in two weeks. Then, I took The Work Online and Travel The World Course and was able to complete it in a little over two weeks as well!
Q: How long was it until you landed your first client online?
I landed my first client two weeks after taking the courses!
“About a month later, I landed my first big retainer client and that was when it really felt real!”
Q: What has been your biggest setback, and how did you overcome it?
My biggest setback has been getting discouraged. I’m super impatient so I had to learn that if things weren’t happening right away it was for a reason and that it was okay.
In the beginning, there were slow seasons. In order to stay strong and push through them, I really had to focus and work on my mindset.
Q: What was the final push in your story to get you to ditch that 9-5 job?
The final push for me to ditch my 9-5 was when I realized that girls just like me were out there living their best life – working while traveling, making their own hours, and living out their girl boss dreams! I realized that if they could do it, I could too!
“Girl boss success stories were always my inspiration and gave me the power to turn my dreams into a reality!”
Q: Tell us what a “day in the life” looks like for you now that you’re running your own online business!
Currently, I’m living in Bali! My day often looks like getting up and getting dressed, meditating on the balcony, grabbing a smoothie bowl for brekkie, and then working at my favorite coffee shop or coworking space!
I’ll usually take a break in the afternoon to grab lunch with friends, get a massage, or just chill out by the beach. Then, I’ll go back, wrap up work, and head to a yoga class in the evening!
“I am truly living my dream life!”
Q: What’s the most challenging part about running your online business?
Learning how to manage work and life at the same time has been extremely challenging. I have found that we as entrepreneurs often become so passionate about what we do that we tend to forget to have a life outside of our work.
“Throughout this first year and a half of running my business, I’ve been learning how to not make everything about work and focus more on enjoying the experiences around me!”
Q: How do you stay inspired and motivated to run your online business?
Surrounding myself with biz besties that know and understand what I’m going through, who can support me along the way, and listen to the occasional vent sessions help me to stay on track with my online business! Instagram and the Bucketlist Bombshells community have helped me find the most awesome biz besties!
“Consuming inspirational content like it’s my job, making myself a priority so that I don’t get burnt out, and being my own hype girl helps me to stay inspired and motivated.”
Q: What is your process for finding and landing clients online?
I’ve found clients through Facebook groups and local events. Many clients have found me through Instagram, Pinterest, and referrals!

Q: What do you love most about the work you do and the clients you work with?
I love helping female entrepreneurs grow their businesses using a very underutilized platform like Pinterest!
My favorite part is seeing how their website traffic grows month after month and how excited my clients are when they realize how much this newfound exposure is positively impacting their business!
Q: What’s the best part about being your own boss?
I LOVE being able to work from home with no bra on! ;p
On a more serious note, I definitely love being able to choose who I want to work with. I get to decide who enters my world, who I interact with, and whose life I get to impact.
“Being able to make my own schedule and take breaks when my brain needs it is a huge plus!”
Q: What is your favorite destination to work remotely from?
I love Canggu, Bali, which is my current base! It’s so beautiful and is full of creative inspiration!
Q: What is one travel item you can’t live without when you’re working and traveling?
I can’t live without my Roost Laptop Stand! Goodbye neck pain, hello great posture!
Q: What’s your go-to favorite podcast that you’d recommend to other girl bosses?
Q: What is your number one piece of advice for aspiring Bucketlist Bombshells?
Stop letting fear dictate your life! If you’re feeling a pull to do something more with your life, now is your time! You were meant to do something greater and you have the power to create your own reality!
